General Information and Expectations

  • Children under the age of 10 should not be left unattended at the arena.
  • All skaters and parents will treat Coaches, Program Assistants, Board Members (and other volunteers) and Arena staff with respect at all times.  Any issues should be directed to our President at skateharrow@live.ca or to the Head Coach or Board Member in attendance at the time.
  • Parents and spectators are not permitted on the Coaches bench without express permission from a coach.  Parents and spectators are not to interrupt coaches during session time.  Your skater may exit the ice if you need to see them.
  • ONLY Skate Canada registered Coaches, Skaters, Program Assistants and Board Members are allowed to enter the ice surface.  
  • Any accident must be reported to Skate Harrow in a timely manner (at the time of incident)
  • All dressing rooms are designated as co-gender and as such, only skates should be changed in the change rooms.  Washrooms should be used for clothing changes and any other time privacy is required.
  • Young skaters and sibling should not be left unattended to "play" in the dressing rooms
  • Skate Harrow is not responsible for lost or stolen items.  Do not leave valuable items unattended.
  • Skaters and parents are asked to respect others belongings and not touch or move others stuff.
  • Skaters are expected to be dressed in appropriate attire:  Young children should be dressed in layers.  Snow pants and bulky winter jackets are NOT recommended as it inhibits movement.  Gloves or mittens are REQUIRED on our Canskate and Prejunior sessions.  Long hair MUST be tied back when not under a helmet.  Legs must be fully covered (leggings, pants, tights - NO shorts), however jeans are not recommended
  • Hockey skates or Figure Skates are recommended.  Molded Boot and "switch blade" skates are NOT recommended. Skaters cannot learn to skate in these types of skates.  See picture below.
  • A CSA approved hockey helmet (with or without cage) is REQUIRED for all skaters up to and including Badge 5.  This is non-negotiable.
